The Diocese of Christ Our Hope’s mission is to plant, equip, and multiply gospel-centered Anglican churches and to support and serve their people and leaders in Christian life and mission. We serve more than 40 churches and are a member diocese of the Anglican Church in North America.


Job Description

The Administrative Assistant increases the operational capacity of the Diocese of Christ Our Hope by providing administrative and clerical support to the diocesan staff. This position requires strong organizational skills, a high attention to detail, enthusiasm, and the capacity for independent decision making.


 Position Terms

  • Part-time:                   15-20 hrs/week
  • Hours/Day:                  Negotiable
  • Start Date:                  As soon as possible
  • Pay:                             $17.50/hour
  • Office location:          704 Greenwood Rd. Chapel Hill, NC 27514 (Candidate must live within 30 miles of the office and be regularly present)
  • Equipment:                Employer will provide a laptop computer
  • Transportation:         Employee is responsible for their own transportation

Candidate Skills & Experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Strong written and verbal communication
  • Strong typing skills
  • Effective time management
  • Bookkeeping experience (not required but preferred)
  • Database management experience (not required but preferred)
  • Computer software proficiency
    • Required
      • Apple OS
      • Microsoft Office
      • Google Workspace
    • Preferred but not required:
      • Quickbooks
      • Salesforce
      • Basecamp
      • Slack

 Responsibilities

  • Bookkeeping
    • Manage income and expenses, bank deposits, reimbursements, and monthly reports
    • With consultation, file monthly expense reports
  • Attend selected meetings, take minutes, and follow through on all action items pertaining to the administrative assistant role
  • Maintain master staff calendar
  • Maintain Diocesan Online Database
  • Work with the Bishop to manage his calendar and appointments
  • Schedule and coordinate Parish Visits
  • Assist Events Coordinator with events-related work
  • Bookings for staff as requested (flights, hotels, events and activities, etc.)
  • Organize and maintain the office
  • Additional administrative support as requested and time allows

 Candidate Supervision

  • The Administrative Assistant reports to the Canon to the Ordinary.
