Mark Johnson
Mark’s earliest formation in spiritual direction began with the Cowley Fathers, vowed monastics of the Society of St. John the Evangelist in Cambridge, MA. Decades later, receiving and offering Christian spiritual direction continue to reveal that daily taking up one’s cross and following Jesus is equally a call to action and contemplation, each dependent upon the life-giving companionship of the Holy Spirit.
Living by A Rule of Life and praying a daily Examen are two disciplines that sustain Mark’s walk in the way of the Cross. Completed training in the Selah-Anglican Spiritual Direction Certificate Program and ongoing engagement with Selah Fellows are his grounding for offering biblical, Trinitarian, contemplative spiritual direction. By God’s grace, ancient and contemporary teachers of orthodox Christian faith continue having an enduring influence on his ministry of spiritual direction and life of prayer leading toward deeper union with God.
Mark and his wife, Mitzi, worship the Lord at Holy Trinity Anglican Church in Chapel Hill, NC. Mark serves as a lay prayer minister, formation class teacher, and spiritual director and Mitzi leads Altar Guild. They have a small farmstead in nearby Hillsborough and together find great joy in stewarding God’s Creation.
