Rev. Canon Dcn. Rachael Green

Canon for Leadership Development

Rachael has been working on the leadership development team since 2022, before stepping into the role of Canon for Leadership Development in July of 2025. In this role, Rachael manages our ordination process and our theological education and Anglican formation programs. She also assists clergy with developing and implementing curacy programs. Rachael loves serving the leaders of the diocese and connecting them with helpful resources and opportunities to aid in their spiritual formation and development as leaders.

Rachael graduated from The George Washington University with a BA in Religious Studies.  Since then, Rachael has served in both church and campus ministry, equipping people to spread the Gospel in their communities. She was ordained to the diaconate in the Spring of 2025, and she finds great joy in connecting those in her community to the life of the Church. She is currently working towards an MA in Theological Studies from Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary.

Rachael lives in Charlottesville, Virginia with her husband, Fitz, who works as a campus minister at The Center for Christian Study. They are kept busy raising their five children: Fitz II, Carys, Ailyn, Rowan, and Ysolte. Their family attends Church of the Resurrection in Charlottesville, which they helped to plant in 2023.

When she is able to find a quiet moment, Rachael loves to read and discuss books.  If you see her, ask her what she is reading!
