Today begins the Gafcon G26 Mini-Conference in Abuja, Nigeria as global orthodox archbishops, bishops, clergy, and laity gather for prayer, fellowship, and seeking God’s wisdom for the future of his global church. Our five bishops from the Diocese of Christ Our Hope, +Alan Hawkins, +Andudu Adam Elnal, +Steve Breedlove, +Paul Donison, and +Quigg Lawrence will have already arrived for preliminary meetings.

WHAT IS GAFCON?
Gafcon stands for Global Anglican Future Conference. Gafcon first gathered in Jerusalem in 2008 when moral compromise, doctrinal error, and the collapse of biblical witness in parts of the Anglican communion had reached such a level that the leaders of the majority of the world’s Anglicans felt it was necessary to take a united stand for truth. The vision is to see the Bible at the heart of the Anglican Communion. Read more here to learn about Gafcon's history and the movement going forward.
WHAT WILL HAPPEN AT G26?
In addition to a Bishop’s Training Institute (BTI) happening in Abuja from Feb. 28-Mar. 3, there will be prayerful discernment in what the future looks like for a reordered Anglican Communion. A press brief from Gafcon states, “The G26 Conference is welcoming 487 delegates from 34 countries representing 182 diocese across 24 Provinces and four new provinces-in-formation.” Bishop Paul Donison, the Gafcon General Secretary, provides an excellent explanation in this video.

G26 Pre-Visits
Bishop Andudu Adam Elnail has been in Sudan visiting the people of the Nubian Mountains. He will be attending G26 this week. You can see the infectious joy, celebration, and humor of the Nuba people in the midst of their struggles in this clip
that he took of them. Watch to the end for a good chuckle.
Bishop Quigg Lawrence visited his good friend in Nigeria, Archbishop Ben Kwashi, and an orphanage.

M25i Lenten Devotional Series: 3rd Week of Lent
Every year, the Matthew 25 Initiative creates a Lenten learning and prayer series to help the church and her people focus their hearts and minds on the gospel in both word and deed. Their theme for 2026 is “The Light in the Darkness.” They are using George MacDonald as a kind of “Lenten storyteller‑in‑residence”: his novels give us vivid, memorable pictures of Jesus’ heart for the poor in a real historical setting (the Industrial Revolution). Then they lay those pictures next to Scripture and our own communities so that you can see, feel, and practice a whole gospel—one where faith in Christ naturally spills over into concrete mercy, justice, and neighbor‑love today. The link to their webpage and devotional download can be found here.
On Good Friday, DCOH will be encouraging you to give alms to M25i here. Artist, Bailey Hindmarsh contributes to the series; more about her work and ministry can be found here.
