Lee Hilts

Chief Operating Officer

Lee joined the staff full time in April 2022 after serving as the Executive Director at Church of the Apostles, Raleigh NC for 9 years. His role as Chief Operations Officer includes Human Resources, Finance, Systems and Process support. Additionally, he enjoys working directly with the churches of the diocese to help them solve financial and operational issues. His favorite part of the job is hearing about the work of God throughout the churches of the diocese and sitting with pastors and church leaders to support them through prayer and practical matters.

Lee met Sarah at UNC Chapel Hill (Go Heels!) and they have been married since 1996. Their son Andrew is entering his final year at University of South Carolina and daughter Jane is starting her first year at UNC- Wilmington.

The Hilts currently attend Church of the Apostles where they first encountered the Anglican world 18 years ago. Over that time, Lee has served on the vestry (including a role as Senior Lay leader), led children’s church, taught youth Sunday school, led a community group, and mentored college students and young adults.

Outside of work, you will find Lee playing board games, hiking, or playing disc golf with family and friends.
